WE ARE NOW 48! Introducing ARUWE to the PELUM family
Please join me in welcoming Action for Rural Women’s Empowerment (ARUWE)
to the PELUM family. This brings the total membership of PELUM Uganda to 48! (one member was dropped in April 2014)
Established in July 2008, ARUWE works in Nsangi Sub-county and Busi Island in Wakiso district, Kibiga and Lwamata Sub-counties in Kiboga district and Mulagi and Gayaza Sub-counties in Kyankwanzi district.
A world in which women and their children are able to realize their full social, economic and civic potential.
To support and advocate for the needs and rights of marginalized rural poor women to enable them initiate and manage their own socio-economic and development processes.
- To increase gender equity and seeks to Address the Discriminative practices inhibiting Women’s potential in economic production in the community.
- To support the rural Women into self-reliance through participatory economic activities that lead to improved incomes such as Agricultural improvement and credit schemes.
- Advocate for the rights of women and children.
- To contribute to the overall community development through mainstreaming crosscutting issues related to gender, Children, HIV/AIDS, water hygiene and sanitation and Environmental issues.
