WE ARE NOW 54! Introducing Broederlijk Delen (BD) to the PELUM family

Please join me in welcoming Broederlijk Delen (BD) to the PELUM family. This brings the total PELUM Uganda membership to 54! About BROEDERLIJK DELEN Broederlijk Delen (BD) is a Belgian NGO founded in 1961, as part of the charity activities of the Catholic Church. BD is supporting organizations and people in about 13 countries in Africa, Latin America and Asia that to dateas a Flemish solidarity movement Broederlijk Delen has achieved a lot during the period of more than 50 years. Year after year they motivate people to struggle for a better world. In Africa and Latin America they cooperate with a number of valuable partner organizations. Their work has an influence on the political agendas in Belgium and in the European Union. In Uganda Broederlijk Delen is active in two regions in Uganda: Lango and Rwenzori. The Rwenzori region is located in the south-west of Uganda, by the Rwenzori Mountains and on the border with the DRC. The region covers seven districts: Kabarole, Kyenjojo, Kamwenge, Kasese, Bundibugyo, Ntoroko and Kyegegwa. The Lango region is situated in the central North of Uganda and covers eight districts: Alebtong, Amolatar, Apac, Dokolo, Kole, Lira, Otuke, and Oyam. BD’s programs In Uganda, BD focuses on food sovereignty, with special attention for income growth through commercialisation of agricultural products. Primarily, they work towards the improvement and preservation of value chains of agricultural products for the local market. This ranges from financing, ensuring availability of inputs, to sustainable output, collecting harvests, storage, processing and possible transportation up until the final sale.
