The Government of the Republic of Uganda represented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) and Participatory Ecological Land Use Management (PELUM) Uganda today, 25 July 2024, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) towards provision of a framework for cooperation, knowledge sharing, and joint initiatives to exploit the potential, harness the opportunities and address key challenges presented by the agricultural sector within the broader frameworks of the Agro-Industrialization Programme.
The MoU was signed by Maj. Gen. David Kasura Kyomukama, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Uganda, and Dr. Christopher Kyeswa, Chairperson PELUM Uganda country Board and witnessed by Dr. Henry Nakelet Opolot, Commissioner Agriculture Extension in the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries and Josephine Akia Luyimbazi, the Country Coordinator of PELUM Uganda.
The overall objective of this collaboration is to contribute to the promotion of sustainable agricultural practices, soil, and water resources; enhancing food security; and improving livelihoods of small holder farmers in Uganda.
